Curated Environments by Alison Milne at IDS17
Under the creative direction of Alison Milne of Alison Milne Design + Gallery, IDS Toronto is pleased to present a number of curated environments which will be incorporated into the fabric of this year’s show. Guests will be invited to explore the spaces designed by Milne, which range from public lounges and cafés.
Alison Milne designs residential dwellings and interior spaces out of her Junctional Triangle-based studio in Toronto. When designing a home, Alison and her team focus on getting to know each clients’ lifestyle and daily routines in order to design a space that is truly tailored and representative .
“The home should feel like the inhabitant, not the designer. It should have character, emotion and a personality just like the homeowner.”
Alison facilitates monthly exhibitions in her studio, displaying the work of both local and international artists. Her practice focuses on the importance of art in the interior design process and she advises her clients to invest in pieces that they love and that have real meaning to them.
Alison has also guest starred as an art and interior design specialist on several Canadian TV design shows, including serving as the resident designer on Restaurant Takeover. She resides with her husband and baby boy in the west end of Toronto, and can often be found at international furniture fairs, art exhibitions and local fundraisers.
