Prototype is a curated showcase of the next generation of designers. This feature is a juried platform featuring products not currently in production addressing new ideas for the residential market. Participants include professional designers and students, presenting both to-market and conceptual works. The feature structure is a group exhibit with each participant being given space on the raised shared platform within the Studio North feature.
Lukus Toane is a creative projects director/artist curator residing in Toronto. From 2015 to 2018, Lukus worked as Director of Exhibitions at the Gladstone Art Hotel, where he managed the production of art/design exhibitions with emphasis on creative, inclusive community-building and innovative collaboration within heritage spaces. Since then, Lukus has been involved in annual and one-off events and freelance projects including 'A Streetcar Named Toronto' in 2019; where he partnered with CityFund and TTC in curating an immersive and functional exhibition in a chartered, to-be-retired CLRV streetcar. Other past collaborators include work with DesignTO, Azure Magazine, DesignLines, VICE Magazine, Nuit Blanche, Artist Project, Inside Out Film Festival, Rainbow Railroad, Lighthouse Immersive, and more.
